Welcome
to my Website
I moved to Cornwall in 1982 and attended painting and life
drawing classes with Roy Walker and Bob Devereux. My first
paintings were in pastels working mostly ‘en plein air’ in all
weathers sitting on North Coast beaches.
I graduated from Falmouth College of Arts with a degree in Fine
Art (2.1) in 2002 having developed my own very distinctive and
quirky ‘Urban Myth’ paintings based on ‘urban’ Cornwall.
More recently I have been working on paintings influenced by a
move to the coast where I now have my studio.
I love painting in oil paint, usually on canvas, sometimes on
board and although the images are contemporary, I paint in a
traditional way on a gesso base, building up layers of paint.
Influences are mainly figurative painters and include Marc
Chagall, De Chirico, Carel Weight, Jock McFayden, Michael
Andrews and L.S. Lowry.
Also my friend and mentor Roger Fletcher ‘Fletch’ who helped and
encouraged me so much in the beginning.
The paintings are all for sale. Please contact me for
information and availability. I also take commissions of any
beautiful place, sea, sky or land that you want to preserve as
memory.
